For all you James Bond villains in waiting, a caviar-infused Vodka has finally arrived. The debut spirit from L’Orbe has been in the works since 2012 and has now officially been christened Vodka x Caviar. The company’s debut expression has been designed to be “admired, savored and shared,” and will no doubt make a play for world domination at some point.

L’Orbe Vodka x Caviar uses Dankowski Diamond rye from Poland and Royal Baeri caviar. In order to infuse the flavors, the company developed a technique that allowed it “to capture rare ingredients inside a sphere: the orb.” The ingredients are encapsulated in a glass vial “using a unique pearl technology.” According to the brand, “the pearl protects the ingredient and enables all its flavors to infuse slowly into the spirit, without decay or detriment.”

On the nose, the caviar-infused Vodka is rich and buttery with a touch of vanilla and iodine. The palate features “a delicately silky texture, with a fresh, elegant wave of sweetness and a light creaminess. Then distinct, structured notes of caviar appear, creating a sweet-savoury balance, with some underlying dryness,” according to the brand. The finish is described as “Round and long. The vodka diffuses, leaving space for the complexities and richness of the caviar.”

L’Orbe Vodka x Caviar should be served simply over ice or as part of a cocktail. If you’re looking to mix something up, the company recommends a L’Orbe Martini:

L'ORBE MARTINI Carre

  • L’Orbe Vodka x Caviar
  • Lemon Twist

Stir l’Orbe thoroughly over ice and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

As for food, the company recommends pairing the Vodka with all types of seafood, including sushi & sashimi, smoked fish, lobster, crab, oysters, or langoustine. It also matches well with white Chocolate, gazpacho, steak or tuna tartare, and wagyu beef.

L’Orbe Vodka x Caviar is currently available at a variety of locations across London, Paris, the French Riviera, Saint Barthelemy, and the French Alps. It can also be purchased online via Masters of Malt and Fortnum & Mason (which ships to the United States).
