Crown Royal Adds Rye Aged 16 Years To Noble Collection

Crown Royal has unveiled the latest addition to its Noble Collection, Rye Aged 16 Years. Releases from the Canadian Whisky brand’s annual series are designed to highlight the “various techniques and styles” of their master blenders.

Crafted from 90% rye mash, the Crown Royal Noble Collection Rye Aged 16 Years is, not surprisingly, a Canadian Rye Whisky taken from some of the older stocks at the brand’s aging warehouses. The spirit is aged for a minimum of 16 years in American white oak barrels.

Bottled at 45% ABV, the Whisky is bold and spicy then soft on the nose with creamy vanilla, caramel and honeycomb aromas, mingling with spicy rye and hints of cherries and plum. On the plate, the initial notes of spice relax into a residual smooth mouthfeel while hints of cinnamon, anise and clove leave a lasting warmth in the finish.

The Rye is packaged in “a sleek bottle with a crystal-cut style base and a resealable cork top. The canister is a rich, deep purple to match the classic Crown Royal regal purple and the iconic thick, purple bag with gold accents encases the bottle.”

The Noble Collection Rye Aged 16 years is currently on sale for the price of $70 per 750ml bottles and can be purchased online at various specialty retailers.

In other Canadian Whisky news, in October Canadian Club unveiled Canada’s oldest aged Whisky, the Canadian Club 43 Year Old. The new limited-edition expression is the third edition of the Ontario-based distillery’s Chronicles Series and has been dubbed “The Speakeasy” as a tribute to the brandy’s legendary role during Prohibition.

Batched and barrelled in 1977, Canadian Club 43 Year Old boasts notes of oak and leather on the nose, while delivering nutmeg and dried fruit on the palate, with a lingering mouth feel. The spirit balances subtle spice and sweetness.
