When you step into King’s Club at The Sonnenalp, you’ve magically been transported to the Alps. The bar is small, but well stocked; there are a plethora of seating options; and a piano sits in the center of the room. The staff is in full Germanic Alpine regalia and live music often fills the air.

The bar boasts a variety of handcrafted cocktails, including a number of hot mixed beverages like the King’s Club Apres (Grey Goose, Kahlua, Baileys, Godiva White, Espresso, Whipped Cream), which is the perfect warm-me-up after a long day on the slopes. Those looking for something chilled will be happy to find a number of fun drink options as well, such as Lubo’s Bourbonator (Bulleit Rye, Orange Curacao, Lime Juice, Cranberry, Sprite) or the Coloradan-favorite Mountain Envy (10th Mountain Rye, Hennessy VSOP, Sweet Vermouth).

While the cocktails are delightful, it’s the spirits list that is the bar’s real specialty. King’s Club boasts a Highland Scotch section of its menu, and there are also a number of other Whiskeys and Whiskys available. There are also a number of Cognacs available–as well as an Armagnac–which is certainly the way to go if you aren’t short on change and are looking to impress some friends, or in-laws. There are also two German beers on tap as well as a few American options by the bottle, as well as a few wines that are available by the glass.

While there isn’t a full menu food menu available, there are a number of small bites that are perfect for those who need something to coat their stomach before the true imbibing begins. The menu stretches from foie gras and Wagyu sliders to winter greens to a mushroom quesadilla.

One of the real treats that comes with most any trip into King’s Club is the live music, which is performed daily from 8pm onward. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, there is also music to accompany apres hour, which begins at 430pm.

If you’re looking for some live tunes and to take off a load in a comfortable yet classy setting, while enjoying a single malt or a glass of Cognac, King’s Club is the place to be. It’s pure class seemingly straight from the Alps.
