A release date for the 2020 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon has finally been announced. The annual limited edition Whiskey from the Brown-Forman brand will hit shelves September 2nd. The release celebrates George Garvin Brown’s birthday. This year also marks the 150th anniversary of Brown-Forman.

Bottled at 44% ABV, the 2020 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon will be made up of 95 barrels, each aged for 10 years after being filled on June 5, 2010. It will be the third expression bottled at the Old Forester Distilling Co in Louisville, Kentucky.

“Being part of the Birthday Bourbon selection process is one of my favourite parts of my job because of the legacy and tradition this expression represents,” said Jackie Zykan, Old Forester master taster. “We’re really proud of what we’ve produced this year and think it’s a great way to celebrate George’s birthday and Old Forester’s historic anniversary.”

Old Forester President Campbell Brown added: “Its annual release has become something that Bourbon lovers anticipate, and we really believe that the 2020 version is one of our best yet.”

According to the brand, the Whiskey’s nose will feature white floral notes along with notes of citrus, vanily, chocolate, and leather. The palate possesses caramel and toffee with banana, mango, coconut, and macadamia nut.

The 2020 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon will be priced at $129.99 and is only available in “extremely limited quantities.” It will be made available at select retailers across the United States and on the company’s online store. The brand began releasing their annual Birthday Bourbon back in 2002.

Brown-Forman also announced the release of Woodford Reserve Five Wood Whiskey, part of the brand’s experimental Distillery Series, which will only be available at the Kentucky distillery and in select retailers across the state. The limited edition spirit was aged in five different barrels over the course of its maturation.
