Audemus Spirits Partners With Michelin-Starred Chef To Create Fractal 2.0 and Anne-Sophie Pic Gin

Audemus Spirits has teamed up with Michelin-starred chef Anne-Sophie Pic and sommelier Paz Levinson to launch two limited-edition products, Fractal 2.0 and Anne-Sophie Pic Gin. The French brand is best known for creating Pink Pepper Gin.

Fractal 2.0 aims to “emulate the experience of an aged spirit, whilst expressing an unedited aromatically fresh profile,” says the brand. Using a two-times distilled pelargonium (Rose Geranium) eau-de-vie to create the aromatic heart of the spirit, Audemus then searched to provide a tannic backbone and structure using cold-infused coffee to dilute the spirit. A drop of grape sugar rounds off the edges. The result is full-bodied and warm, yet aromatically, entirely unique. Bright floral notes complement a honey-toasted base, underlined by a lightly herbal-green finish. Only 250 bottles will be available.

Anne-Sophie Pic Gin, meanwhile, is inspired by the chef ‘s experimentation with flavors in her cuisine. It is made with French citron and Meyer lemons, cubeb pepper, passion berry, locally foraged juniper, and Japanese smoked tea. The delicate brightness of citron and Meyer lemons harvested in Southwest France create a bursting top note. The cubeb pepper, passion berry, and locally foraged juniper provide a vibrant and bitingly intense core of the Gin. All of this is underlined by the Japanese smoked tea, which adds subtle breadth and lingering length to the finish. Just 570 bottles have been made available.

Audemus Spirits founder and distiller Miko Abouaf is known as a passionate experimenter, who enjoys testing boundaries with botanicals and spices to create the brand’s range of spirits and liqueurs. This approach saw the business crowned Craft Producer of the Year in the Icons of Gin awards 2020.

“From its flagship product Pink Pepper Gin, French producer Audemus has expanded its range in weird and wonderful directions to great acclaim. Along with many enticing limited-edition gins, its portfolio also includes the cognac-based Covert Liqueur, contemporary aperitif Sepia Amer, and Umami Spirit made with Italian capers and parmesan cheese. Production takes place in distiller Miko’s living room in Cognac, demonstrating the brand’s dedication to the small-batch approach,” said the awards.
