Brookie’s Byron Slow Gin

|

Brookie’s Byron Slow Gin is the first of its kind. Made in the traditional style of English ‘Sloe’ gin, this product showcases a unique rainforest fruit native to the subtropical region of Byron Bay, the Davidson Plum. Cape Byron Distillery steeps the plums in their Byron Dry Gin for six months and simply lets time weave its magic.

It’s a Gin that could come from nowhere else. Davidson plums are indigenous to the Northern Rivers, New South Wheels and South East Queensland. The fruits are packed with an array of vitamins and minerals, and are known as a “bushfood” delicacy. The Gin is blended with Mount Warning spring water and bottled at 26% ABV. It’s a bright and exciting Gin that features exhilarating flavours of rose, watermelon, and bright plum.

Brookie’s Byron Slow Gin has picked up a number of awards around the globe, including a Gold at the 2019 World Gin Awards and 2018 San Francisco Spirits Awards.

Cape Byron Distillery is perched in the heart of the Brook Family’s 96 acre Farm (Brookfarm) in the hinterland of Byron Bay. The distillery rests amongst a macadamia orchard and the rainforest that the Brook’s have regenerated. The distillery was purpose-built on one of the only bare plots of land remaining. Inside, visitors will find a custom-made copper pot still (named George), next to a cellar door bar made from locally sourced Norfolk pine and recycled materials.

The Brook family is directly responsible for the thriving ecosystem and lush subtropical rainforest where Cape Byron Distillery rests. They have a passion for rainforest regeneration, that started 30 years ago when Pam & Martin Brook purchased a run-down dairy farm in the hinterland of Byron Bay. Since then they have regenerated and replanted over 35,000 subtropical rainforest trees, creating an oasis for native animals and birds.

It is this passion for regeneration that is at the core of Cape Byron Distillery and that care can also be found in their Brookie’s Byron Slow Gin as well as their Dry Gin.
