Dubliner Teams Up With Rascals Brewing For Old Fashioned Beer Cask Whiskey

|

The Dubliner Irish Whiskey has teamed up once again with their Dublin 8 neighbors Rascal’s Brewing Company to release a new whiskey, Old Fashioned Beer Cask edition. Last year, the two brands worked together on The Dubliner Smoked Stout Whiskey, the first release in the distillery’s Beer Cask Edition Series.

Inspired by the Old-Fashioned cocktail and rested in Rascals’ Blonde Ale beer casks, the spirit is made by finishing Dubliner Whiskey in beer barrels once filled with Rascals’ blonde ale, brewed with star anise, orange peel and zest.

The crafty Dublin 8 brewery first filled the casks with their high quality, unfiltered and unpasteurised beer, and after a few months of finishing, the beer was bottled. The casks were then returned to the Dubliner, with each cask refilled with The Dubliner Irish Whiskey. The casks held the flavors of the beer, having soaked into the wood, that are then exposed to the whiskey, marrying a delicious blend of flavors that should excite whiskey and beer fans alike.

The result is an Irish whiskey piqued with bright, exuberant, and playful flavors. On the nose, the whiskey offers aromas of orange sherbet, orange zest, and citrus sweetness. The palate features star anise, maple syrup, roasted pecans, red cherries, and dark chocolate. The finish finds more orange and citrus.

Just 1,000 bottles of The Dubliner Irish Whiskey Old Fashioned Beer Cask edition have been released. Bottles are priced at €35 and are exclusively available in Ireland from the Dublin Liberties Distillery website.

In April, The Dubliner whiskey rolled out a new design and marketing campaign. Distilled in the heart of the Liberties district of Dublin, the award-winning Irish whiskey brand didn’t change what’s inside the bottle. The new logo and bottle design forgo traditional packaging in favor of an updated contemporary look and feel.
