To make Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin the distillery forages wild plants in the mountains that surround the Glen of two Lakes. Located south of Dublin in County Wicklow, Glendalough Distillery was set up by a group of friends from Wicklow and Dublin with a passion for reviving the heritage of craft distilling in Ireland.

The wild plants the distillery gathers go into the still within hours of foraging. All the plants are sustainably picked by Glendalough’s full time forager, every day they distil, and the brand makes sure to avoid adversely affecting the areas they find them in. That means not over-foraging oft-picked areas and using thoughtful foraging methods that don’t disturb growth. While it may be harder work, it’s that kind of attitude that makes Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin special.

From there, the wild botanicals are slow-distilled to tease out delicate flavours, in small batches of less than 250 liters. Some go in the pot, and some are hung in a basket to let vapours extract their essential oils.

This is what brings the flavour in the Wild Botanical Gin to a whole other level. The knowledge, attention to craft and hard work go into every bottle and that’s what makes this Gin so special.

On the nose, Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin delivers fresh aromas of pine and juniper with notes of spice. The palate is herbal and verdant with splashes of fruit and there is a long, warm finish. The texture is like velvet, making for a well-balanced smooth Gin. While the Gin certainly possesses modern notes, there also clear classical nods to juniper and pine. It’s a Gin that will remind you of rich, wet forests and will provide a piney note to any cocktail it is added to.

Glendalough Distillery also makes Whiskey and Potin, as well as a Rose Gin and various small batch and seasonal varieties.
