Glenmorangie Rolls Out Cadboll Estate Batch 2

Glenmorangie Cadboll Estate Batch 2

Glenmorangie has unveiled Batch 2 of its Cadboll Estate single estate whisky. In April, the Scotch took home Double Gold honors at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the contest’s top rating.

Created by Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s director of whisky creation, Cadboll Estate Batch 2 is crafted only from barley grown in the fields surrounding the distillery’s Highland home, and distilled in Scotland’s tallest stills. It is aged in hand-selected, first-fill American White Oak ex-bourbon casks. Located along Dornoch Firth along Scotland’s east coast, the area surrounding the distillery where the barley is grown is protected from hard inland frosts and extremes of weather and is essentially in its own microclimate. In these conditions, every harvest is unique and brings subtle flavor differences to each batch of The Cadboll Estate.

Lumsden describes the whisky as “deep and creamy” and he looks to “share the taste and spirit of Glenmorangie’s homeland with whisky lovers across the world, even if they are yet to visit the single malt’s beautiful, yet remote, corner of the Highlands.”

On the nose, Batch 2 features a full and fruity aroma with orange and honeyed apricots, alongside creamy vanilla candy, toasted almonds and a hint of coconut and sugared almonds. The palate is a rich, smooth silky texture is followed by a burst of sweet fruity flavors: Poached pear in syrup, apricot and zesty lemon. Ginger and cinnamon spices sizzle and are tempered with a cooling mentholic freshness. The finish is a long and lingering with layers of orange oil, toasty oak and eucalyptus.

Glenmorangie also notes that only enough barley can be harvested from the estate each year for one or two weeks of production at the Distillery, making the single-estate crop particularly rare.

Bottled at 43% ABV, Glenmorangie Cadboll Estate Batch 2 is priced at $85 and can be purchased via ReserveBar.

Earlier this week, Glenmorangie teamed up with designer Brandon Blackwood, pianist Chloe Flower, creative Alani Figueroa, and R&B artist Tone Stith for the launch of X by Glenmorangie.
