Highland Park Reveals Viking Heart, 15-Year-Old Whisky Aged In Sherry-Seasoned Casks

Highland Park Viking Heart

Highland Park has launched a new 15-year-old whisky, Viking Heart. The new offering will join the Orkney-based Scotch brand’s core range.

Highland Park’s master whisky maker, Gordon Motion, handpicked the casks for Viking Heart. The liquid contains a “high percentage” of first-fill European oak Sherry-seasoned casks, along with first-fill American oak Sherry-seasoned casks

“Our insistence on specially constructed Sherry casks delivers a richness of flavour,” said Motion. “Vanilla and citrus notes lead and combine with the unique fragrant peat and creamy mouthfeel synonymous with Highland Park.

“The hand selection of quality first-fill and refill casks for Highland Park 15 Year Old delivers a rich colour, which is 100% natural.”

The whisky comes in heavily embossed 700ml ceramic bottles, made in partnership with Wade Ceramics. The design was inspired by ancient earthenware vessels, which would have been used to store whisky a century or two ago at the distillery.

Bottled at 44% ABV, Highland Park Viking Heart is priced at £80 ($109 USD) and is available at specialist whisky retailers, and the brand’s online shop and distillery.
