Idris Elba Opening His Porte Noire Bar In London

Porte Noire Bar

Idris Elba and David Farber are launching their first Porte Noire Bar and Cellar in London next month. The Wire star entered into the wine world last year when he paired up with two French estates, Chateau Sainte Marguerite and Champagne Sanger, to release a Provence rosé and blanc de blancs Grand Cru Champagne, under the label Porte Noire.

The new venue also carries the name Porte Noire and will be located at the foot of the Gasholders – opposite Regent’s Canal Towpath at Coal Drops Yard in London’s King’s Cross. It will feature an extensive selection of international wines, cocktails made solely with premium spirits and serve artisanal cheese and charcuterie alongside a brasserie-style menu.

‘’We’re really excited to be bringing a slice of continental hospitality to London this autumn,” said Farber. “Since launching our brand Porte Noire we have seen some incredible reviews of the product and we’re looking forward to creating a space to match.”

Designed by Kanvass, Porte Noire Bar and Cellar will include an outdoor space, a dining room and a bar that can seat up to 70 guests. It will be home to around 800 wine bins, and one of London’s largest fine wine tasting rooms. Connaught Wine Cellars founder David Farber curated the selection, which will range from some of the best and rarest bottles to a more accessible set of wines on tap.

‘’David has been working in the wine space for a long time, I know he is going to take the Porte Noire name and create something special,’’ said Elba.

The Porte Noire Bar and Cellar is set to open on October 18, 2021. For more information, head over to the official website.

Also in October in King’s Cross, a new, all-day drinking and dining destination known as Booking Office 1869 is set to open at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel.
