Teeling Whiskey Unveils Wonders of Wood Cherry Wood Cask

|

Teeling Whiskey has announced the second release in its Wonders of Wood series, the Cherry Wood Cask. The new edition follows the release of the Teeling Whiskey Amburana Cask, which hit shelves back in November.

A 15 Year Single Malt aged initially in Bourbon barrels and then in virgin Cherry Wood, the Teeling Wonders of Wood Cherry Wood Cask Whiskey “challenges the conception of traditional Whiskey flavors,” says the distillery. The Irish Whiskey is full of floral notes, dried fruits and mellow spices.

On the nose, the Whiskey offers wood spice, brown sugar, and dried fruits (prunes, raisins, sultanas). The palate features sawdust, sandalwood, rosewater, and Turkish Delight. The finish is long with a mellow spice.

The selection of the Cherry Wood Cask as the second release of Teeling’s Wonders of Wood series was decided by attendees of the Dublin distillery’s Wonders of Wood event in September. Hosted by Teeling Whiskey’s Master Distiller, Alex Chasko, Teeling Maturation Manager, Iain Wood and Global Brand Ambassador, Robert Caldwell, the virtual tasting gave participants a unique opportunity to taste some of the brand’s most innovative and unique Whiskey maturation projects.

Bottled at 57.1% ABV and costing €125 ($151 USD), the Teeling Wonders of Wood Cherry Wood Cask Whiskey is a limited edition, distillery exclusive bottling and can be purchased online from the brand’s online shop.

The Teeling Wonders of Wood Amburana Cask, the first release in the Wonders of Wood series, is a 14 Year Single Malt that initially aged in Bourbon barrels and then further matured in Virgin Amburana Brazilian hardwood. Amburana casks rarely make it out of Brazil, but the brand was lucky enough to get its hands on a number of sustainably farmed casks that had been destined for a premium Cachaça distiller.

Last week, Teeling released the fourth and final Whiskey in its award-winning series of limited edition Single Malts, entitled the Brabazon Bottling, Series 4.
