Tia Maria Iced Coffee Frappe Joins Canned Cocktail Category

|

Tia Maria Iced Coffee Frappe is the latest edition to the canned cocktail category. The Illva Saronno-owned liqueur brand enters the ready-to-drink (RTD) world with an “indulgent yet refreshing” offering that is sure to get people movin.

Made with 100% Arabica coffee, milk cream and Tia Maria coffee liqueur, Nitro technology ensures the can foams when opened.  Netherlands-based street artist Karski created the abstract packaging for Tia Maria Iced Coffee Frappe, which is bottled at  4% ABV.

Managing director of Disaronno International UK Neil Jardine stated: “The ready-to-drink category is in dynamic growth and has a bias towards a younger consumer, which is consistent with our strategy to breathe new life into this wonderful brand.

“Over the coming months we will have more to share on further innovation, which began at the beginning of the year with the introduction of our bold new packaging. Our investment in Tia Maria is substantial and consistently above the category norms, and the combination of new products into the mix enables us to look forward with confidence.

“The Iced Coffee Frappé is our first step into wider product innovation and allows us to present Tia Maria to a broader consumer, meeting new occasions and taste preferences. As we work to broaden our product range, we want to celebrate our one-of-a-kind soul through a refreshed look which is why we’ve worked with street artists to bring a colourful and vibrant look to the Iced Coffee Frappé.”

Tia Maria Iced Coffee Frappe is available for purchase at United Kingdom supermarket chain Sainsbury’s for £1.89 (US$2.30) per can. There is no word yet on if or when the canned cocktail might hit the United States.

The Iced Coffee Frappe is not the first canned coffee cocktail to hit the market. Back in August 2018, Kahlua released an Espresso Martini RTD, which uses a “smart” nitrogen widget to give the beverage creamy effervescence when it’s opened.
