Tomintoul Unveils Cigar Malt Whisky

Tomintoul Cigar Malt Whisky

Tomintoul has released a new Cigar Malt Whisky. The new offering was specially created by Master Distiller Robert Fleming, who the Speyside distillery recently celebrated with a 30th anniversary Whisky.

To create Tomintoul Cigar Malt, Fleming selected a combination of single malt Whiskies from specially chosen vintages. He carefully balanced those Scotches with some rare peated Tomintoul single malt that were either matured fully or finished in hand-selected Oloroso sherry butts, sourced from the partner bodegas in Andalucia, Spain.

“I am incredibly proud to release this new expression of Tomintoul, as I personally selected the range of Tomintoul single malts that make up this extremely complex and unique whisky,” said Fleming. “The Tomintoul Cigar Malt has the perfect balance of sweetness and spice, with a rich smoky background.”

Tomintoul Cigar Malt is also referred to as Tomintoul Cigar Malt Parejo (Spanish for “partner”) as it was created to pair with cigars. “The rich and sweet Oloroso Sherry notes, creamy malt profile and gentle peat smoke make this single malt the perfect accompaniment to savour alongside your favourite cigar or just appreciate and enjoy by itself,” says the distillery.

On the nose, the Whisky offers bold aromas of dried fruit, sweet spices, pecan pie and subtle peat smoke. The palate delivers a sweet and rich taste of chocolate raisins, butter toffee and brambles mingled with dark pepper and smoky woody spices. The finish is warm and long with notes of mocha, maple syrup and toasted oak lingering on the tongue.

Bottled at 43% ABV, the Whisky is priced at £68.95 per 700ml bottle and can be purchased via Master of Malt.

As mentioned above, Tomintoul is launching two very special bottlings of 30 years old Single Malt to celebrate Whisky maker Robert Fleming and his 30th Anniversary at the Speyside distillery. The First Edition of the limited release Tomintoul Robert Fleming 30th Anniversary is described as an “incredibly complex yet beautifully balanced single malt.” The Whisky spent its first 20 years in a Bourbon cask, then matured for 10 more years in an Oloroso sherry butt.
