Introducing The World’s First Naturally Black Gin

The long dark nights of winter are just around the corner, and now there is an alcohol that adequately pairs with the colors and feelings that come along with it. Scapegrace Gin has released the first ever naturally black Gin, Scapegrace Black.

The New Zealand-based company created the distillate by using natural extracts including aronia berry, saffron, and butterfly pea, and sweet potato. Velvety and full bodied, the Gin possesses a luxurious mouthfeel and finished with candied sweet potatoes and pineapple.

To make things even more fun, Scapegrace Black moves from black to shades of red and purple when it’s mixed with tonic. So if you’re looking for something easy but seasonal for your upcoming Halloween party, this new Gin should do the trick. Plus, it’ll save you from having to mix up a variety of complex beverages that stop you from hitting the dancefloor.

Apparently, the Gin has “flown off shelves, selling out a three-month supply on the first day on sale.” Unfortunately, it’s only available to New Zealand residents for NZ$80 (US$51). There is no word on when or if the Gin will be made available anywhere else in the world, so this might be the right time to actually write that friend of yours from study abroad.

Don’t worry, if you’re looking for other drinks that will go perfectly with this fall season, we’ve got a number of options for you to mix up.

Scapegrace offers to other Gins to the New Zealand marketplace. Scapegrace Classic which is made from 12 botanicals and has bright citrus flavors, with lemon and orange predominantly shining through.
